What We Can Supply
If you work in renewables, we can supply height safety equipment, insulated tools, calibrated torque tools and electrical test instruments built to the standards this sector requires. Working at height and on or near energised electrical equipment are the two constant themes in this industry, so the right kit isn’t optional, and neither are the standards it needs to meet.
Height safety for wind turbines and towers including fall arrest harnesses, energy-absorbing lanyards, self-retracting lifelines (SRLs), rope access equipment and anchor systems for working at height inside and outside wind turbine towers, on solar arrays and on supporting structures. Petzl and MSA Safety for height safety and rope access. GWO Basic Safety Training-compatible equipment is available, and all products can be supplied with current test and inspection certification on request.
Insulated hand tools for electrical work including VDE-rated insulated screwdrivers, pliers and cable tools for work on solar inverters, DC isolators, battery management systems and wind turbine electrical systems. KNIPEX and Wiha for VDE-rated 1000V AC / 1500V DC insulated tools. DC insulated tools rated to 1500V DC are increasingly needed for modern utility-scale solar, so please specify AC or DC when enquiring.
Calibrated torque tools including torque wrenches and multipliers for wind turbine main bolt connections, tower flange bolting, foundation anchor bolt installation and mechanical assembly. Norbar for calibrated torque tools with certificates traceable to national standards. Torque validation is a critical quality requirement in wind turbine installation, and calibration documentation is typically required as part of the installation record.
Electrical test instruments including multifunction installation testers, insulation resistance testers, earth loop testers, clamp meters and PV-specific testers for solar array commissioning and maintenance. Fluke and Megger both produce instruments suitable for renewable energy electrical testing, and Fluke’s range for PV testing is particularly well regarded in the solar installation sector.
PPE for renewable energy work including safety boots, weatherproof workwear, gloves, eye protection and hearing protection for maintenance teams working in exposed outdoor locations. Arc flash PPE is also available for high-voltage electrical work. Portwest for workwear, Honeywell and Ansell for arc flash protection.
General maintenance tools including spanners, sockets, ratchets and general hand tools for turbine maintenance workshops and site maintenance vans. Bahco and Stahlwille for workshop hand tools. We’re happy to put together van kit lists and workshop stores for renewable energy maintenance teams if that helps.
