These are the instruments that electricians, HVAC engineers and maintenance technicians rely on every day for safe, accurate electrical measurement.

Fluke — professional tools and equipment, UK trade supplier

About Fluke

Fluke Corporation was founded in 1948 by John Fluke Sr. in Seattle, Washington. The company built its place in the test and measurement market by concentrating on instruments that were more accurate, more rugged and easier to use than the competition. Those qualities won a loyal following among professional electricians and industrial maintenance technicians who needed their test equipment to work correctly every single time. Fluke is now part of Fortive Corporation and distributes worldwide, but the brand identity and product philosophy that John Fluke established remain essentially intact.

In the UK electrical trade and industrial maintenance markets, Fluke is the benchmark brand for digital multimeters. When an electrician says they have “a Fluke”, they mean a professional instrument rather than just any multimeter. The brand name has become a byword in the same way that some product categories end up permanently linked with a single make. Fluke multimeters are built to CAT (Category) safety ratings that govern their safe use in different electrical environments, and the input protection circuits in Fluke instruments are consistently better than budget alternatives, which is a meaningful safety distinction when measuring in high-energy electrical systems.

The Fluke range has grown well beyond its multimeter origins to cover clamp meters, thermal cameras, insulation resistance testers, loop testers, earth ground testers, power quality analysers and process calibration equipment. They all share the same design philosophy: instruments that measure accurately and reliably in the demanding environments where electrical and industrial maintenance professionals actually work.

Products We Can Supply from Fluke

Digital multimeters (DMMs). The Fluke 115, 117, 175 and 179 are the most widely used models in the UK electrical trade, covering general electrical installation and maintenance, HVAC and building services applications. The 115 and 117 include non-contact voltage detection, while the 175 and 179 add true RMS measurement for accurate readings on non-sinusoidal waveforms. All are CAT III 600V or CAT III 1000V rated. The Fluke 87V is the professional benchmark for industrial applications including motor drives and power electronics.

Clamp meters. The Fluke 323, 325 and 376 clamp meters measure current in conductors without breaking the circuit, which is essential when working on live systems where disconnection is not practical. The 376 adds iFlex flexible current sensor capability for measuring in awkward, restricted locations and for high-current conductors that won’t fit a standard clamp jaw. All models offer true RMS for accurate measurement on distorted waveforms.

Insulation resistance testers. The Fluke 1507 and 1587 insulation resistance and multimeter combination instruments test insulation integrity on cables, motors and switchgear. They are needed for periodic electrical inspection and testing under BS 7671 (18th Edition Wiring Regulations) and for commissioning and periodic inspection of electrical installations. The 1587 combines full DMM functionality with the insulation tester in a single instrument.

Thermal cameras and process instruments. The Fluke Ti series thermal cameras suit predictive maintenance, electrical panel inspection and building envelope surveys, while the Fluke 810 vibration tester handles rotating machinery condition monitoring, and the process calibrators cover temperature, pressure and loop signal calibration in process industry maintenance. Every instrument holds Fluke’s build quality and calibration standards.

Industries

Fluke instruments are used by electrical contractors and electricians, HVAC and building services engineers, facilities and building maintenance technicians, industrial maintenance and reliability engineers, utilities and power distribution engineers, and any professional who measures, tests or diagnoses electrical and electronic systems as part of their work.

Good to Know

CAT safety ratings on multimeters (CAT II, III, IV) define the energy level at which an instrument can safely survive a transient overvoltage event, not simply the measurement voltage. A CAT III 600V instrument is safe in distribution panels, whereas a CAT II 300V instrument is not. Never use a lower CAT-rated meter in a higher CAT environment, whatever the measurement voltage.
