Portwest — professional tools and equipment, UK trade supplier

About Portwest

Portwest was founded in 1904 in Westport, County Mayo, Ireland, as a workwear manufacturer. From those regional Irish roots it has grown into one of the world’s largest workwear and PPE companies, with its own manufacturing facilities in Bangladesh, Myanmar, Sri Lanka and elsewhere, and distribution to over 150 countries. The company remains family-owned and is still headquartered in Westport.

Portwest’s strength in the UK PPE and workwear market comes down to the exceptional breadth of its range and its pricing. By manufacturing directly and in volume, it can offer a wider range of certified PPE and workwear than most competitors at prices that suit the budget realities of the UK building and industrial sectors. The catalogue runs to thousands of products, which means a buyer can source gloves, hi-vis, safety footwear, work trousers, coveralls, hard hats and flame-resistant garments through a single relationship.

Quality across the range is not uniform, and that is by design. The budget-oriented lines, such as the C-series coveralls and A-series gloves, are cost-effective where PPE turnover is high and per-unit cost matters more than longevity. The professional series, including the WX2 and TX workwear, the KX3 stretch range and the Premium glove range, sits at a higher specification that competes with more expensive workwear brands on both quality and value.

Products We Can Supply from Portwest

Work trousers and coveralls — the Portwest WX2 Eco stretch work trousers and TX series multi-pocket work trousers for general construction and trade use, the KX3 stretch series with 4-way stretch fabric for maximum mobility, and the C series coveralls in polycotton for industrial and maintenance use. Portwest flame-resistant and arc-rated coveralls (FR series) cover petrochemical, utilities and electrical applications. All are available in a full size range, including extended lengths.

Hi-vis workwear (EN ISO 20471) — Portwest hi-vis jackets, waistcoats, trousers and coveralls to EN ISO 20471 Class 2 and Class 3 in standard hi-vis yellow and orange, waterproof hi-vis jackets with taped seams, and hi-vis softshells and fleeces for cold weather working. It is one of the most comprehensive hi-vis ranges available from a single manufacturer, covering everything from basic construction site waistcoats to fully breathable hi-vis waterproofs.

Safety gloves — Portwest cut-resistant gloves (EN 388 rated) from cut level A to F for the full range of cutting and handling hazards, chemical-resistant gloves in nitrile and neoprene for chemical handling, anti-vibration gloves for power tool use, and general-purpose grip and handling gloves in latex, nitrile and PU coatings. Across hundreds of SKUs, the range covers virtually every workplace hand protection application.

Safety footwear and head protection — Portwest safety boots and shoes in S1P, S3 and composite toecap specifications for construction, industrial and logistics, the Portwest PW Series safety boots with waterproof membrane and anti-penetration midsole for outdoor and wet conditions, and Portwest hard hats to EN 397 in standard colours. Safety footwear is covered across budget and professional price points from a single supplier.
