Industries We Serve
Utilities.
We supply water, gas and electricity network operators and their contractors with non-sparking tools, gas detection, pipe tools, confined space equipment and PPE for network maintenance and construction. We’re here to help whenever you need us.
What We Can Supply
If you work in utilities, we can supply non-sparking tools, gas detection, pipe tools, confined space equipment and PPE for the range of environments network work involves. Roadside working, confined spaces, gas-risk atmospheres and high-voltage electrical systems all have specific equipment requirements, and we focus on products that are properly rated for each of them.
Non-sparking tools for gas networks including beryllium copper and aluminium bronze hand tools for use in gas-risk environments including gas main excavations, meter chambers, valve chambers and compressor installations. We supply Ega Master and Ampco Safety Tools with full ATEX certification. Gas Safe and IGEM guidance requires the use of non-sparking tools in defined gas-risk areas, and we can confirm the appropriate tool specification for your application if needed.
Gas detection for confined spaces and excavations including 4-gas monitors (O2, LEL, CO, H2S) for confined space entry in chambers, manholes, service ducts and valve pits, plus single-gas monitors and area monitors for gas leak detection during gas main repairs. Dräger, Crowcon and MSA Safety are all commonly used in UK gas network operations. The Confined Space Regulations 1997 require atmospheric testing prior to confined space entry wherever atmospheric hazards may exist.
Pipe tools for water and gas networks including pipe cutters for HDPE, ductile iron and steel mains, pipe wrenches, fusion tools and compression joint tools for service connection work. We supply Rothenberger for pipe cutting and pipe tools. If you have a specific pipe material or joint type, just let us know and we’ll advise on the right product.
Confined space entry equipment including rescue tripods, winches, man-riding winches, safety lines and rescue sets for entry into chambers, manholes and service tunnels. We supply Tractel and Petzl for confined space rescue equipment. The Confined Spaces Regulations 1997 require a rescue plan and appropriate rescue equipment at the point of entry.
Utility worker PPE including Class 3 hi-vis workwear (EN ISO 20471) for roadside working, safety boots, cut-resistant gloves, safety glasses and hearing protection. For HV electrical network work, arc flash and HV-rated insulated gloves are also required. We supply Portwest for hi-vis and workwear, Honeywell and Ansell for arc flash and insulating gloves, and 3M and JSP for general utility PPE.
