Ega Master.
A Spanish manufacturer of professional hand tools, Ega Master produces non-sparking tools in beryllium copper and aluminium bronze alloys, insulated tools for live electrical work, and industrial maintenance tools. They are made for the places where ordinary steel tools are not allowed, whether because of ATEX hazardous area rules or electrical safety regulations.

About Ega Master
Ega Master is a Spanish manufacturer of professional industrial hand tools, based in the Basque Country, a region with a long tradition of metal manufacturing and tool making. Its range is built around the particular needs of industrial maintenance, oil and gas, chemical processing and electrical installation. These are environments where ordinary carbon steel tools cannot be used, either because of the ignition risk they present in an explosive atmosphere or because of the electrical hazard they present near live conductors.
Non-sparking tools are required in ATEX Zone 1 and Zone 2 classified areas wherever an impact or the friction of a tool could throw a spark with enough energy to ignite a flammable atmosphere. In oil refineries, chemical plants, gas processing facilities, paint spraying areas, explosives manufacturing and other Zone 1 and Zone 2 locations, using standard steel tools during maintenance is a recognised ignition risk. Ega Master non-sparking tools are made from beryllium copper (Be-Cu) alloy and aluminium bronze (Al-Br) alloy, both of which can be struck or scraped without producing incendive sparks.
The Ega Master range also covers VDE-insulated tools for live electrical work, ergonomic professional hand tools for general industrial maintenance, and specialist tools for particular applications. Having non-sparking, insulated and general professional tooling in one catalogue means a maintenance operation working under ATEX and electrical safety requirements can cover most of its needs from a single supplier.
Products We Can Supply from Ega Master
Non-sparking tools — beryllium copper (Be-Cu) covers Be-Cu alloy spanners, hammers, chisels, screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, sledgehammers and industrial tools for use in Zone 1 and Zone 2 classified areas. Beryllium copper is harder than aluminium bronze and holds up better where a sharp edge or high wear resistance is needed, which makes it the preferred choice for cutting and chiselling in hazardous areas. Ega Master Be-Cu tools carry the ATEX Ex marking appropriate to their certified use.
Non-sparking tools — aluminium bronze (Al-Br) are Al-Br alloy tools for Zone 1 and Zone 2 use where the lighter weight and lower cost of aluminium bronze are an advantage over Be-Cu. Al-Br is the more common specification across many oil and gas and chemical facility maintenance programmes. The same range of tool types is available as in Be-Cu, with matching ATEX marking.
VDE-insulated tools (1,000V rated) include screwdrivers, pliers, cutters and specialist electrical tools, each individually tested to 10,000V and rated for use on live conductors up to 1,000V AC under EN 60900. They are used by electrical maintenance teams in industrial facilities, by panel builders, and by any engineer working on or near live conductors where site electrical safety rules call for VDE-certified tools.
Industrial maintenance hand tools are professional quality spanners, wrenches, pliers, hammers, screwdrivers and general maintenance tools in chrome vanadium steel and other alloys for standard, non-hazardous area work. Ega Master designs this range for sustained professional use rather than for the consumer or general trade market.
Industries
Ega Master non-sparking tools are used in oil and gas production, refining and petrochemicals, chemical processing, explosives manufacturing, grain and flour milling, paint and solvent manufacturing, gas distribution, offshore platforms, LNG terminals, and any ATEX Zone 1 or Zone 2 classified area where an ignition risk assessment requires steel tools to be kept out of maintenance work.

Good to Know
Be-Cu tools contain beryllium, which presents an inhalation hazard if it is machined, ground or left badly corroded. For ordinary maintenance use this is not a concern, but Be-Cu tools should not be modified. If your hazardous area is also a food or pharmaceutical environment where beryllium contamination would be a problem, Al-Br is the better specification. Get in touch and we will advise on the right alloy for your application.
