About Werner
Werner Co. was founded in 1922 in Greenville, Pennsylvania. Through a mix of product development and acquisition it has become the world’s largest ladder manufacturer, producing aluminium and fibreglass ladders, step ladders, platform ladders, combination ladders and scaffolding systems for professional and consumer markets worldwide. In Europe, Werner acquired the ladder brands Titan and Zarges, extending its reach across both the professional and specialist aluminium access markets.
Werner’s professional ladder range is built to EN 131 Class I (professional) specification for use at work under the Work at Height Regulations 2005. The Werner Pro and Werner D-Rung ranges are specified for tradespeople who use ladders as their main access equipment day to day, with features such as D-shaped rungs for a more comfortable grip, wider stiles for greater rigidity and non-slip feet that set professional ladders apart from domestic-grade equipment.
The fibreglass ladder range is used by electricians and anyone working on or near live electrical systems. Fibreglass is non-conductive, so a fibreglass ladder will not carry a current if the user touches a live circuit, unlike an aluminium ladder. For electrical work, fibreglass is the correct specification and may be an insurance or site safety requirement.
Products We Can Supply from Werner
Extension ladders — D-Rung and Pro series — Werner D-Rung extension ladders in two-section and three-section formats from 2.9 m to 7.8 m closed length, EN 131 Class I rated to 150 kg, with D-shaped top rungs for comfort, swaged bottom rungs for grip and automatic safety locks. The Werner Pro Series uses a wider stile for extra rigidity in longer lengths. Both are of aluminium construction for general professional use.
Fibreglass extension and step ladders — Werner fibreglass extension ladders for electrical and live-voltage work where a non-conductive ladder is required, to EN 131 Class I, with the same D-Rung construction as the aluminium range but in non-conductive fibreglass stiles. There are also Werner fibreglass step ladders for electrical, telecoms and utilities work where the task brings the user close to live conductors.
Step ladders and platform steps — Werner step ladders in 3-tread to 12-tread configurations in aluminium; platform steps with large top platforms for sustained working at height; and Werner combination ladders (A-frame and extension modes) for versatile access in domestic and light commercial work. The range is EN 131 Class I professional specification throughout.
Ladder accessories and safety equipment — Werner ladder standoffs (stay arms) for holding the ladder away from the wall when working on gutters, eaves and overhangs; Werner ladder mitts for protecting surfaces from ladder contact; and Werner ladder stabilisers for better lateral stability on uneven ground. All are compatible with standard Werner and third-party ladders.
Industries
Werner access equipment is used by electricians and electrical contractors, painters and decorators, builders and maintenance contractors, roofers, aerial and satellite installers, telecoms engineers, facilities management operatives, and any tradesperson requiring certified EN 131 Class I access equipment for professional work at height.

Good to Know
Fibreglass ladders weigh more than aluminium ladders of the same length, which is the trade-off for non-conductivity. If your electricians are using aluminium ladders near live electrical systems, switching to fibreglass is the correct safety measure. Werner fibreglass ladders come in the same lengths and configurations as the aluminium range. Get in touch and we can confirm the right Werner fibreglass specification for your working environment.
