An Austrian abrasives manufacturer founded in Hall in Tirol in 1919, producing grinding wheels, cutting discs, diamond tools, mounted points and precision grinding wheels for metalworking, stone processing, construction and precision manufacturing. It is one of Europe’s largest abrasive manufacturers, with a strong position in the professional and industrial market.

About Tyrolit
Tyrolit Schleifmittelwerke Swarovski KG was founded in 1919 in Hall in Tirol, Austria, as part of the Swarovski group. It has grown into one of Europe’s largest abrasive manufacturers, producing bonded abrasives (grinding wheels), superabrasives (diamond and CBN wheels), coated abrasives and precision abrasive tools for the metalworking, stone, construction and precision manufacturing markets.
In the UK professional abrasives market, Tyrolit spans the construction consumable end of the range, such as cutting and grinding discs for angle grinders, right through to highly engineered precision grinding wheels for aerospace component manufacture. That breadth, from site consumables to precision tooling, reflects Tyrolit’s investment in abrasive technology across the full range of applications where abrasive tools are used.
The Tyrolit DC BASIC and DC PREMIUM diamond blade ranges for angle grinders are well established in the UK construction market for cutting concrete, masonry, tiles and natural stone. The DC PREMIUM laser-welded segmented blades in particular combine cutting speed and blade life that competes with the best specialist diamond blade brands at a competitive price, which makes them a practical choice for groundwork, masonry and cutting contractors.
Products We Can Supply from Tyrolit
Cutting discs for angle grinders. Tyrolit BASIC and EXPERT cutting discs come in 115 mm, 125 mm and 230 mm for cutting mild steel, stainless steel and masonry, with Tyrolit INOX stainless-specific discs for cutting austenitic stainless without iron contamination and Tyrolit HIGH SPEED ultra-thin discs for fast, clean cuts in steel and structural sections. All are manufactured to EN 12413.
Grinding discs and flap discs. Tyrolit grinding discs in aluminium oxide and Zirconia construction handle weld grinding and surface preparation on mild and stainless steel, the Tyrolit LONGLIFE flap discs in 115 mm and 125 mm give blending, finishing and weld dressing with longer disc life than standard aluminium oxide, and the Tyrolit ceramic grain flap discs suit aggressive material removal on hardened steels.
Diamond blades — DC BASIC and DC PREMIUM. Tyrolit DC BASIC laser-welded segmented diamond blades come in 115 mm and 125 mm for cutting concrete, block and general masonry on angle grinders, while DC PREMIUM adds an enhanced segment bond for faster cutting in reinforced concrete and hard aggregate. Tyrolit also supplies 230 mm and 350 mm diamond blades for large angle grinders and table saws on heavier masonry cutting.
Bench grinding wheels and mounted points. Tyrolit aluminium oxide and silicon carbide bench grinding wheels come in 150 mm and 200 mm diameters for tool sharpening and general deburring on bench grinders, and Tyrolit mounted points in aluminium oxide and silicon carbide handle internal grinding, deburring and finishing in die grinders and pendant drills. They are available in standard wheel and cone profiles for different application geometries.
Industries
Tyrolit abrasives are used in metal fabrication and structural steelwork, construction and groundworks, stone processing and masonry cutting, automotive bodyshop, precision engineering and grinding, aerospace and defence manufacturing, and any professional application needing quality cutting, grinding or finishing abrasives for metal, stone or composite materials.

Good to Know
Never use a cutting disc for grinding or a grinding disc for cutting, as the two types have different reinforcement and profile geometries. A cutting disc used as a grinding disc can shatter under lateral load. All Tyrolit discs are clearly marked with their type (Type 41 flat = cutting; Type 27 depressed centre = grinding). Get in touch if you need guidance on the right Tyrolit disc for your cutting or grinding application.
