Snap-on Incorporated was founded in 1920 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The founding innovation was the interchangeable socket, a set of five handles and ten sockets that could be combined in any way, doing away with the need to carry a separate wrench for every fastener size. That “snap-on” idea gave the company both its name and its way into the market.

Snap-on holds an unusual place in the professional tool market. It is the brand that mechanics and engineers in the most demanding applications choose when they want the best available tools and are willing to pay the premium that goes with them. The qualities that set Snap-on apart from other professional brands run right through the range: tighter manufacturing tolerances, harder steel specifications, better surface finishing, and design details that reflect a real understanding of how tools are used day in, day out over decades of work.

Snap-on’s FLANK DRIVE socket and spanner technology uses a proprietary profile that grips the flat faces of hexagonal fasteners rather than the corners, which reduces the risk of rounding fasteners under high torque. Introduced in the 1960s, it became a defining feature of professional hand tool design and has since been taken up in various forms by competing manufacturers.

Socket sets and individual sockets. Snap-on FLANK DRIVE sockets in 1/4″, 3/8″, 1/2″, 3/4″ and 1″ drive covering metric and AF hex in standard and deep configurations, in 6-point and 12-point profiles and shallow, standard and deep well formats. Combination spanners and box wrenches. Snap-on FLANK DRIVE combination spanners in metric and AF, in individual sizes and complete sets, ratcheting combination spanners, and Snap-on flare nut wrenches for brake line and hydraulic fittings. The FLANK DRIVE profile is the defining advantage here, engaging the flat face of the fastener so torque is carried by the strongest part of the hex.

Ratchets and drive tools. Snap-on ratchet handles in 1/4″, 3/8″ and 1/2″ drive with 80-tooth mechanisms (4.5° swing arc) for ratcheting in restricted access, flex-head ratchets, and Snap-on extension bars, universal joints and adapters. With its precise spring tension, pawl geometry and surface finish, the Snap-on ratchet mechanism is the benchmark other professional ratchets are measured against.

Screwdrivers, pliers and torque tools. Snap-on screwdrivers with hard-grip handles and precision-machined tips in all drive types, Snap-on combination, long-nose, diagonal and locking pliers, and Snap-on torque wrenches in click-type and beam configurations for critical fastening.
