Rhodius.
A German abrasives manufacturer founded in Burgbrohl in 1949, producing cutting discs, grinding discs, flap discs, fibre discs and coated abrasives for metalworking, stone cutting and surface preparation. It is well known in the professional market for consistent quality and for the XTK and FT series of thin cutting discs that deliver clean, fast cuts in steel and stainless.

About Rhodius
Rhodius Schleifwerkzeuge GmbH & Co. KG was founded in 1949 in Burgbrohl, in the Eifel region of Germany. The company produces bonded and coated abrasives for the professional metal fabrication, stone working and surface treatment markets. Rhodius remains a family-owned German manufacturer, producing from its Burgbrohl facility and distributing across Europe and internationally.
Rhodius cutting discs, and particularly the XTK series of extra-thin 1.0 mm cutting discs, are well known in the UK fabrication market for combining a thin kerf with fast cutting and good durability. A 1.0 mm cutting disc removes less material per cut than a standard 2.0 mm or 2.5 mm disc, produces a cleaner cut face with less heat, and allows faster feeding thanks to reduced cutting resistance. For fabricators making a high volume of cuts every day, the difference in cut speed and finish quality between a standard and a premium thin disc shows up directly in daily productivity.
In the European professional market, Rhodius sits as a quality German abrasive manufacturer at a competitive price point, consistently above commodity disc quality but without the premium pricing of the most expensive specialist brands. For regular volume users of cutting and grinding discs in fabrication and metalworking, Rhodius offers reliable performance and consistent product quality from batch to batch.
Products We Can Supply from Rhodius
XTK and FT ultra-thin cutting discs — Rhodius XTK10 (1.0 mm) and XTK6 (0.6 mm) ultra-thin steel cutting discs in 115 mm and 125 mm diameters for fast, clean cuts in mild steel and structural steel with minimal material removal and heat; and Rhodius FT series stainless-specific (INOX) ultra-thin cutting discs for cutting austenitic stainless steel without iron contamination. The reduced kerf of ultra-thin discs significantly improves cutting speed and disc life in daily production cutting.
Standard cutting discs and masonry discs — Rhodius standard steel cutting discs in 1.6 mm, 2.0 mm and 2.5 mm thicknesses for general fabrication cutting; and Rhodius masonry and concrete cutting discs in 115 mm, 125 mm and 230 mm diameters for cutting brick, block, concrete and stone. All are manufactured to EN 12413 and EN 13236 as applicable, in Type 41 flat disc and Type 42 depressed centre formats.
Grinding discs and flap discs — Rhodius grinding discs in aluminium oxide and zirconia alumina grain for weld grinding and surface preparation on mild and stainless steel; and Rhodius LSZ and VISION flap discs in 115 mm and 125 mm diameters for blending, finishing and weld dressing, combining material removal with progressive finishing as the disc wears.
Fibre discs and coated abrasives — Rhodius fibre discs in aluminium oxide and zirconia alumina for aggressive material removal on mild steel with a backing pad; and Rhodius coated abrasive belts, rolls and sheets for belt sanders and hand sanding in metalworking and woodworking.
Industries
Rhodius abrasives are used in metal fabrication and structural steelwork, automotive bodywork, welding and weld finishing, construction and building, pipe and vessel fabrication, shipbuilding, and any professional application involving cutting, grinding or finishing of steel, stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, masonry or concrete.

Good to Know
Ultra-thin cutting discs (1.0 mm and below) need steady, consistent feed pressure. Too much lateral force will flex the disc and can fracture it, so use a smooth, even cutting motion without rocking or twisting the disc in the cut. If you are switching to Rhodius XTK ultra-thin discs from standard thickness discs, the change in technique is small but worth getting right.
