Moldex-Metric AG & Co. KG was founded in 1982 in Walddorfhäslach, Germany, and makes hearing protection and respiratory protection products. The company manufactures both categories at its German facilities and distributes across Europe and globally. Its focus on these two closely related areas of PPE, hearing and respiratory protection, reflects a simple truth: noise and airborne hazards tend to turn up together in the same industrial and construction settings.

Hearing protection compliance is a stubborn problem on industrial and construction sites. Workers often take ear defenders or earplugs out because they are uncomfortable, they get in the way of conversation, or they are awkward to fit and seal properly. The SNR (Single Number Rating) of a protector is only achieved if it is worn correctly and consistently for the whole period of noise exposure. A 35 dB SNR protector taken out for 10 minutes of an 8-hour shift gives far less protection than that headline figure suggests. Moldex designs its hearing protection around comfort and easy fitting precisely to improve compliance, because a protector that actually stays in provides more real-world protection than a higher-SNR product that keeps coming out.

Moldex’s respiratory range covers the disposable FFP respirator market (FFP1, FFP2 and FFP3 in cup and fold-flat formats) and reusable half-masks with replaceable filter cartridges for P3 dust, organic vapour, acid gas and combination protection. Moldex respirators are made to EN 149 and EN 140 standards and are widely used across UK construction, manufacturing and chemical processing.

Disposable earplugs — Pura-Fit and Spark Plug. The Moldex Pura-Fit foam earplugs (SNR 35 dB) suit high-noise environments that need maximum attenuation, and come in uncorded and corded versions for different workplaces. The Moldex Spark Plug (SNR 35 dB) has a tapered contour for easier insertion in smaller ear canals. Both are available in bulk dispensing formats (200-pair boxes) for workplace dispensers and as individual sealed pairs for clean environments and single-use applications.

Reusable earplugs — Contours and banded protection. The Moldex Contours reusable earplugs use a washable silicone construction, with a corded option for frequent wearers who want their hearing protection to be retrievable rather than disposable. The Moldex banded hearing protectors (Camo and Rockets banded) suit workers who need quick-fit intermittent protection that can sit around the neck between noisy tasks without being fully removed and stored.

Ear defenders and earmuffs. Moldex M-Series ear defenders come in head-mounted, helmet-mounted and neckband configurations, with SNR values from 25 dB to 35 dB for different noise levels. The helmet-mounted versions are compatible with JSP EVO and other major safety helmet systems, so you get combined hearing and head protection without carrying two separate pieces of kit.

FFP disposable respirators and half-masks. The Moldex Melt-Blown and Smart Series FFP1, FFP2 and FFP3 disposable respirators come in cup and fold-flat formats, with and without valves. Alongside them sit the Moldex 7000 and 8000 series reusable half-masks with P3 dust filter cartridges, organic vapour cartridges, acid gas cartridges and combination A2P3 cartridges for solvent and chemical environments. All are made to EN 149 or EN 140 as applicable.
