Mirka.
A Finnish abrasives manufacturer founded in 1943, producing the ABRANET mesh abrasive system, GALAXY ceramic abrasives, DEROS and DEOS orbital sanders and a wide range of sanding and finishing products used in automotive refinishing, woodworking, composites and industrial surface preparation.

About Mirka
Mirka Ltd was founded in 1943 in Jeppo, Finland, as a maker of coated abrasives. It is part of the KWH Group and works as a specialist in sanding and finishing, with a development approach that has produced some of the most technically inventive abrasive products around. Mirka’s manufacturing headquarters are still in Finland, and the company keeps a strong engineering identity built around surface quality and dust management as the two things that really define how well a sanding job goes.
The idea that put Mirka on the map worldwide is ABRANET, a net-structure abrasive where the grain sits on a mesh rather than on backing paper or film. The open mesh lets dust pass straight through the abrasive to the sanding pad’s extraction holes, which is far more efficient than conventional abrasives where the dust has to travel around the edge of the disc to reach the vacuum. The pay-off is better extraction, longer abrasive life (because the abrasive does not clog with sanding dust), better surface quality (because debris from the previous pass is cleared before the next stroke) and a much cleaner working environment. ABRANET is now the standard choice in automotive refinishing spray shops and is widely used in furniture manufacture and composite panel sanding.
Mirka’s electric orbital sanders, the DEROS (Direct Electric Orbital Sander) and the smaller-format DEOS, are designed to work with ABRANET and Mirka’s dust extractors as one integrated sanding system. The electric motor, rather than a pneumatic one, holds a consistent speed whatever the load and does away with the need for compressed air on site, which makes the Mirka system practical for both on-site and workshop use.
Products We Can Supply from Mirka
ABRANET mesh abrasives. We supply Mirka ABRANET in 77 mm and 125 mm disc formats in grit grades from P80 to P400 for random orbital sanders, ABRANET ACE for the most aggressive material removal in auto body and composite work, and ABRANET in sheet and roll formats for hand sanding. The net structure pulls dust through the disc for consistently cleaner sanding, longer disc life and a better finish than conventional paper or film abrasives at the same grit grade.
GALAXY ceramic abrasives. Mirka GALAXY comes in 125 mm and 150 mm discs using ceramic alumina grain for the most demanding material removal in automotive body repair, composites and coatings sanding. Ceramic grain has a self-sharpening fracture pattern that holds its cutting performance longer than conventional aluminium oxide, which makes GALAXY especially cost-effective in high-throughput shops where the frequency of disc changes is a real production constraint.
DEROS and DEOS orbital sanders. The range includes the Mirka DEROS 5650CV (125 mm / 5 mm orbit) and DEROS 650CV (125 mm / 5 mm orbit with vibration control) electric random orbital sanders for professional sanding with ABRANET and conventional discs, plus the DEOS 353CV for detail and finishing work on smaller areas. All are built for Mirka’s dust extraction system and available with or without the vacuum base kit.
Mirka dust extraction and hand sanding. We can supply the Mirka DEROS Vacuum Kit (sander, hose and dust extractor) for a complete dust-extracted setup, along with Mirka hand sanding blocks, sheets and rolls in paper, film and ABRANET formats for manual work. Mirka Gold paper-backed abrasives round things out for general woodworking and finishing where a paper-based abrasive is still the format of choice.
Industries
Mirka sanding products are used in automotive bodywork and refinishing, furniture manufacture and joinery, composite panel and GRP construction, boat building and marine, coatings application and sanding, construction surface preparation, and any professional or industrial job that needs high-quality finishing where dust management and abrasive efficiency are central to both output quality and operator health.

Good to Know
ABRANET discs last a good deal longer than paper abrasives at the same grit because the open mesh stops them loading up, so the disc keeps cutting cleanly rather than glazing over with sanding debris. If you are getting through sanding discs quickly in woodworking, body repair or composites, the cost per square metre sanded with ABRANET usually works out lower than paper even at a higher price per disc.
