Voltage indicators and safe isolation kits. The Martindale ACAL 2 and VI-13800 voltage indicator kits detect the presence of AC voltage at 230V and higher in electrical installations. They are GS38-compliant, with shrouded test leads, fused probes and the defined response at phase and neutral that safe isolation requires. Combined safe isolation kits pair a voltage indicator and proving unit in a case for the complete safe isolation procedure in a single product, and this is the most widely used safe isolation kit in the UK electrical industry.

Proving units. The Martindale PU2 and PU3 proving units confirm that a voltage indicator is working correctly before and after use, which is the essential second step in the safe isolation procedure that tells a dead circuit apart from a failed voltage indicator. The proving unit generates a safe low-level AC signal at the indicator’s detection threshold, confirming sensor and audible or visual alarm function without connection to a live supply.

Socket testers. The Martindale MAINS CHECK and GT range of socket testers rapidly check 13A socket outlets for correct wiring (live, neutral, earth), polarity faults, missing earth and live/neutral reversal, with RCD versions that test the trip function of RCD-protected socket outlets. For electricians conducting periodic inspection and testing, socket testers give a rapid first screen of socket circuits before detailed loop and RCD testing.

PAT testing equipment. The Martindale PAT range covers portable appliance testing in line with the IET Code of Practice for In-Service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment.
