Makita Corporation was founded in 1915 in Nagoya, Japan as an electric motor sales and repair company. The Makita LXT (Lithium-Ion Extreme Technology) 18V battery platform is the most extensive cordless tool platform in the world, covering more than 300 tools from compact drills and screwdrivers to outdoor power equipment, all running on the same 18V battery and charger. That breadth of compatibility is a real advantage in practice. A contractor or site team that commits to LXT can cover almost any cordless tool need from a single battery ecosystem, which cuts the investment in multiple battery platforms and simplifies site logistics.

The Makita XGT 40V MAX platform takes cordless capability into work that has traditionally needed mains-powered or petrol tools, such as large angle grinders, high-capacity rotary hammers, table saws and outdoor power equipment. XGT batteries can also run LXT tools through an adapter, giving a degree of cross-platform compatibility between the two Makita voltage platforms. Across both platforms, Makita brushless motor technology delivers better runtime, longer motor life and more consistent torque than brushed motors.

LXT 18V cordless tools. The DHP481 brushless combi drill, DTD153 impact driver, DGA504 angle grinder, DHS680 circular saw and DHR243 SDS-plus rotary hammer sit within the wider LXT 18V range, which also covers drills, saws, grinders, nailers, staplers, oscillating multi-tools, inspection cameras, vacuums, fans and outdoor power tools. We can supply starter kits with batteries and charger for those new to the LXT platform, as well as bare tools for existing LXT users adding to their kit.

XGT 40V MAX cordless tools. The GA005G 230mm angle grinder, HR006G SDS-max rotary hammer and HS009G 235mm circular saw are part of the XGT platform, built for high-demand work where 18V tools reach their limit. The 40V XGT batteries hold considerably more energy than 18V batteries, which allows sustained heavy-duty operation in large angle grinders, deep cut circular saws and large-diameter SDS-max rotary hammers that would drain an 18V battery quickly.

Corded power tools. Makita corded angle grinders (GA range), rotary hammers (HR range), circular saws (HS range), jigsaws (4350 series), planers, routers and random orbital sanders cover work where sustained use or maximum power makes a corded tool the practical choice. The corded tools use the same motor engineering quality as the cordless range.

LXT batteries, chargers and accessories. We stock Makita LXT 18V batteries from 2.0 Ah to 6.0 Ah, rapid and standard chargers, the Makita MAKPAC interlocking case system for tool storage and transport, and the full range of Makita cutting, drilling and sanding accessories for LXT and corded tool platforms.
