Kyoritsu.
A Japanese electrical test and measurement instrument manufacturer founded in 1940, producing digital multimeters, clamp meters, insulation resistance testers, earth resistance testers and leakage current clamp meters used by electricians and maintenance engineers throughout the UK and globally.

About Kyoritsu
Kyoritsu Electrical Instruments Works was founded in Tokyo, Japan in 1940 and has specialised in electrical test and measurement instruments throughout its history. The product range covers what is needed for electrical installation, maintenance and testing, including multimeters, clamp meters, insulation testers, earth resistance testers and power quality analysers. A reputation for build quality and measurement accuracy has established the Kyoritsu name among professional electrical engineers in the UK and across Europe.
Kyoritsu is especially well known in the UK for its earth resistance testing instruments. Earth resistance measurement, verifying that the resistance of the earthing system is low enough for fault currents to flow and protective devices to operate correctly, is a specific requirement for electrical installations, lightning protection systems and telecommunications earthing. Kyoritsu earth resistance testers are widely used by UK electrical engineers for this, including the 4105A and related models that use the fall-of-potential and selective methods set out in BS 7671 and BS 6651.
The clamp meter range includes specialist models for leakage current measurement. The KEW 2413 and 2413R AC/DC clamp meters measure very small leakage currents in the milliampere range, for earth leakage fault-finding on industrial equipment and electrical installations. Standard clamp meters cannot do this accurately because of their lower accuracy at small current values, which makes Kyoritsu’s specialist leakage clamp meters the right tool for the job.
Products We Can Supply from Kyoritsu
Digital multimeters. The Kyoritsu KEW 1009 and 1051K series digital multimeters handle general electrical measurement across AC/DC voltage, current, resistance, continuity and diode test. True RMS models (1061 series) give accurate readings on non-sinusoidal waveforms in drives, UPS and power electronics environments, and the professional range carries CAT III and CAT IV safety ratings. The compact KEW 1010 series pocket multimeters suit site tasks where a smaller instrument is more practical.
Clamp meters. The Kyoritsu KEW 2413F, 2413R and related AC/DC clamp meters measure current in conductors without interrupting the circuit. True RMS measurement keeps them accurate on distorted waveforms, and jaw sizes run from compact (15 mm) up to large jaw (55 mm) for large-diameter conductors. The specialist leakage current clamp meters (KEW 2413R) measure earth leakage currents at milliampere sensitivity, for fault-finding and RCD pre-testing.
Insulation resistance testers. The Kyoritsu KEW 3005A and 3007A insulation resistance testers work at 250V, 500V and 1000V test voltages for checking cable insulation during installation and periodic inspection. The KEW 3007A adds a PI (Polarisation Index) function for testing large motors and generators, where the PI ratio shows how insulation condition changes over time.
Earth resistance testers. The Kyoritsu KEW 4105A and 4106 earth resistance testers use the fall-of-potential (three-terminal) method to measure the resistance of earth electrodes, earth mats and complete earthing systems. They are used in electrical installation commissioning, lightning protection system verification, telecoms earthing and periodic testing of earthing systems under BS 7671 and related standards.
Industries
Kyoritsu instruments are used by electrical contractors, approved electricians, industrial maintenance engineers, building services engineers, facilities managers, lightning protection contractors, telecommunications engineers, and any professional who measures, tests or diagnoses electrical systems and installations in the UK market.

Good to Know
Earth resistance testing needs current-carrying test probes driven into the ground at set distances from the electrode under test, and the geometry of those probe positions affects accuracy. The fall-of-potential method in BS 7671 and BS EN 62305 calls for specific probe spacing relative to the electrode depth. Kyoritsu earth testers come with both the instrument and guidance on the test method. Get in touch if you need to set up an earth resistance testing capability.
