About Koyo (JTEKT)

JTEKT Corporation was formed in 2006 through the merger of Koyo Seiko Co. Ltd and Toyoda Machine Works. Koyo Seiko had been founded in Osaka in 1921 and had grown into one of Japan’s leading bearing manufacturers, supplying the Japanese automotive industry and industrial customers worldwide. Toyoda Machine Works brought machine tool and steering systems expertise to the merger. JTEKT is affiliated with the Toyota Group and keeps the Koyo brand as its primary bearing identity globally.

Koyo bearings hold a strong position in the automotive OEM and aftermarket sectors, where Toyota, Honda and other Japanese manufacturers have long specified them as original equipment. The standards applied to automotive OEM bearings, such as tight dimensional tolerances, consistent internal clearance and controlled noise and vibration, carry straight over into longer service life and better performance in the industrial machinery applications where the same bearings are used for replacement.

In the UK industrial maintenance and automotive aftermarket sectors, Koyo bearings are a well-regarded alternative to SKF and FAG for deep groove ball bearings and tapered roller bearings, offering Japanese quality at competitive prices. The aftermarket automotive range covers the bearing types most often needed for vehicle wheel hub, gearbox and engine accessory work.

Products We Can Supply from Koyo

Deep groove ball bearings (6000, 6200, 6300 series). The most widely used bearing type in industrial and automotive applications, available in the standard 6000, 6200 and 6300 dimensional series in bore sizes from 10 mm to 100 mm and above. Koyo deep groove ball bearings run in electric motors, pumps, fans, conveyor rollers, gearboxes and any rotating machinery where radial and modest axial loads must be supported. They come in open, single-sealed (RS) and double-sealed (2RS) configurations.

Tapered roller bearings. Koyo tapered roller bearings come in metric and inch series for applications combining radial and axial load, such as wheel hubs, bevel gear assemblies, reduction gearboxes and crane hooks. They are specified where the bearing must carry combined loading and be adjustable for preload during assembly. The Koyo automotive tapered roller bearing range covers most vehicle wheel bearing applications across the Toyota, Honda and wider Asian vehicle fleet.

Angular contact and cylindrical roller bearings. Angular contact ball bearings suit applications needing controlled axial preloading, such as machine tool spindles, precision pumps and steering columns, while cylindrical roller bearings handle high radial loads in electric motors, rolling mill rolls and heavy industrial machinery.

Needle roller bearings and housed units. Koyo needle roller bearings give compact, low-section-height bearing arrangements in connecting rods, cam followers, gearbox selector forks and two-stroke engine small ends. The housed bearing units (pillow block, flanged and take-up units) come in UCF, UCP and UCFL configurations for shaft support in conveyor, agricultural and industrial machinery.

Industries

Koyo bearings are used in automotive and commercial vehicle manufacture and aftermarket, electric motor manufacture and repair, general industrial machinery, pumps and compressors, conveyors and materials handling, agricultural machinery, textile machinery, machine tools and any rotating machinery application requiring rolling element bearing support of shaft loads.

Good to Know

When replacing a bearing, quote the ISO designation from the bearing you are replacing (for example 6205-2RS or 32207) rather than a brand. All reputable manufacturers make bearings to the same ISO dimensions, so a Koyo replacement is directly interchangeable with SKF, FAG or NSK in the same designation. Send us the bearing number and we’ll supply the Koyo equivalent.
