About Klingspor
Klingspor AG was founded in 1893 in Haiger, in the Dillenburg district of Hesse, Germany. The company has concentrated on abrasive products from the start, making coated abrasives, bonded abrasives and cutting and grinding products for the metal, woodworking and construction industries. Klingspor is still family-owned and has grown into one of the largest abrasive manufacturers in the world, with manufacturing in Germany and a distribution network that reaches professional users in most markets.
Klingspor’s quality standard is consistent and well regarded in professional metalworking and fabrication. The company makes abrasives to tight dimensional and performance specifications, and details such as cutting disc diameter and thickness accuracy, grain distribution in grinding and flap discs, and bonding consistency in coated abrasives all affect how a product performs and how long it lasts. The brand sits as a professional-grade abrasive supplier rather than a commodity one, with products that reliably meet their stated specifications.
The range covers the full spread of abrasive needs in the metal fabrication and woodworking trades: cutting discs and grinding discs for angle grinders, flap discs for blending and finishing, fibre discs for aggressive material removal, sanding belts for stationary and portable belt sanders, abrasive sheets and rolls for hand sanding, and non-woven surface conditioning products for fine finishing and surface preparation.
Products We Can Supply from Klingspor
Cutting discs (AS 46 TZ and XT series). Klingspor cutting discs come in 115 mm and 125 mm diameters in the AS 46 TZ Extra and XT series for cutting mild steel, stainless steel and non-ferrous metals. The XT series uses a reinforced fibreglass matrix and optimised grain bond for consistent cutting through the disc life. Stainless-specific grades, iron and sulphur-free, cut stainless steel without contaminating the cut surface, and 230 mm discs are available for large angle grinders.
Grinding discs and flap discs. Klingspor grinding discs come in aluminium oxide and zirconia alumina grades for grinding mild steel and stainless, and the flap discs (CS 411 and SMT 624 series) in 115 mm and 125 mm diameters blend welds, remove mill scale and finish fabricated components. Flap discs combine a cutting action with a graduated finish, exposing progressively finer grain beneath as the layers wear, which gives a single disc the versatility of several grades of grinding and finishing product.
Sanding belts and abrasive rolls. Klingspor sanding belts come in aluminium oxide, zirconia and ceramic alumina grades for portable and stationary belt sanders in woodworking and metalworking, and the abrasive rolls and sheets run from 40 to 400 grit for hand sanding, block sanding and machine sanding. Stearated (anti-clog) grades suit sanding wood fillers, primers and painted surfaces without premature glazing.
Non-woven and specialty abrasives. Klingspor non-woven surface conditioning discs, belts and hand pads come in very fine, fine, medium and coarse grades for surface preparation before coating, rust and oxide removal from metal, and final finishing on stainless and non-ferrous metals. Diamond-coated abrasives are also available for ceramic, stone and hard material finishing.
Industries
Klingspor abrasives are used in metal fabrication and structural steelwork, welding and weld finishing, automotive bodywork and repair, shipbuilding and marine engineering, general engineering workshops, woodworking and furniture manufacture, construction and building maintenance, and any professional application involving cutting, grinding, blending, deburring or finishing of metal, wood or composite materials.

Good to Know
Cutting discs for stainless steel must be iron-free and sulphur-free. Standard mild steel discs contain bonding agents that leave iron contamination on the stainless cut surface, which starts corrosion. Cut stainless with a standard disc and the cut edge will show rust within weeks, even in dry conditions. Always use a disc marked “stainless” or “inox”. The Klingspor AS 46 TZ Inox disc is the right product for stainless cutting.
