Our Brands
Helly Hansen Workwear.
A Norwegian workwear brand with origins dating to 1877, founded by a sea captain who developed oilskin waterproofs for fishermen and sailors. The range covers professional waterproof jackets, work trousers, hi-vis clothing and base layers trusted on construction sites, offshore platforms and in any outdoor working environment where weather protection is a daily operational need.

About Helly Hansen Workwear
Helly Hansen was founded in 1877 in Moss, Norway by Captain Helly Juell Hansen. Its first products were oilskin garments, sailcloth impregnated with linseed oil to give a waterproof outer layer, made for the fishermen and sailors of the Norwegian coast who worked in some of the harshest maritime weather in the world. That heritage of making clothing for people whose lives depended on staying dry and warm in severe conditions still shapes the brand’s character and quality standards more than a century later.
The LIFA base layer technology developed by Helly Hansen marked a real step forward in active outdoor workwear. It is a polypropylene fibre base layer that wicks moisture away from the skin and keeps its insulation even when wet. For workers who build up body heat through physical effort but need to stay warm when they stop, such as construction operatives and anyone doing intermittent physical work in the cold, the LIFA system was a clear improvement on cotton base layers that turn cold and clammy once damp.
The Helly Hansen Workwear range is designed from the outset for professional trades and industrial use rather than adapted from outdoor leisure clothing. The Chelsea Evolution jacket series, the Alna work trouser range and the ICU hi-vis collection are developed in collaboration with the trades and industries that wear them, with articulated knee panels, reinforced elbow patches, tool loops and pockets positioned for working use rather than recreational comfort.
Products We Can Supply from Helly Hansen Workwear
Waterproof jackets and rain gear — the Chelsea Evolution and Voss series waterproof work jackets in Helly Tech waterproof/breathable fabric for construction and outdoor workers; the Mandal and Kensington series for heavier-duty waterproofing in maritime and oil and gas applications. All jackets seam-sealed and rated to Helly Hansen’s waterproof column test standards. Jacket and trouser suit combinations for full weather protection.
Work trousers and bib overalls — the Alna series work trousers with holster pockets, knee pad pockets, stretch panels and reinforced seat and knees for tradespeople who kneel, climb and carry tools. Available in regular and stretch fabric weights; matching bib and brace overalls for full-coverage protection on groundworks, concrete and dirty trades.
Hi-vis workwear (ICU series) — the ICU (In Construction Use) hi-vis range combining EN ISO 20471 Class 2 and Class 3 high visibility with the weatherproof and functional design standards of the Helly Hansen workwear range. Hi-vis jackets, trousers, waistcoats and overalls for construction, utilities, rail and roadworks environments where high visibility is a site safety requirement.
Base layers and insulated mid-layers — LIFA base layers in lightweight and warm weights for moisture management in active work; Lifaloft insulated mid-layers for warmth during rest and lower-activity periods; fleece and softshell mid-layers for mild-weather work. The layering system allows workers to adjust insulation level through the working day without changing outer layers.
Industries
Helly Hansen Workwear is used in construction and civil engineering, oil and gas production and maintenance, offshore and marine operations, utilities and infrastructure maintenance, fishing and aquaculture, rail and transport, forestry and agriculture, and any outdoor working environment in the UK where reliable weather protection is a daily working requirement rather than an occasional necessity.

Good to Know
For physically active workers, breathability matters as much as waterproofing. A jacket that keeps the rain out but cannot breathe will leave the wearer wet from sweat within an hour of hard work. Helly Tech waterproof/breathable fabric lets moisture vapour escape while blocking liquid water. If you’re equipping a workforce that is active outdoors, it is worth discussing the breathability specification when you place your order.
