About HellermannTyton

HellermannTyton traces its origins to the work of Lothar Hellermann in Hamburg in the 1930s, where the company developed early cable management components for the electrical and wiring industries. It grew through the development and worldwide distribution of cable ties, the nylon loop fasteners that became a universal component in electrical installation and wiring harness manufacture. HellermannTyton merged with Tyton Corporation in 1999 and is now one of the world’s largest cable management companies, with manufacturing facilities across Europe, the Americas and Asia.

The cable tie, a self-locking nylon strap that loops around a bundle of cables and pulls tight in one action, is one of those products so common in industrial and electrical work that its origins are largely forgotten. HellermannTyton’s nylon cable ties are made to tighter dimensional and material specifications than generic alternatives. The nylon grade, moulding quality and locking pawl geometry all affect tensile strength as well as long-term UV and chemical resistance, and the rated ties perform consistently against their published specifications in a way that unbranded alternatives often do not.

Beyond cable ties, HellermannTyton produces a comprehensive range of cable management products: clips and clamps for fixing cables to structures; conduit, trunking and ducting systems for routing cables in buildings and vehicles; heat shrink tubing and cable protection; and a range of labelling and identification products for cable, panel and asset marking.

Products We Can Supply from HellermannTyton

Cable ties — nylon and stainless steel — HellermannTyton nylon cable ties in natural (PA66), black (UV-stabilised) and coloured variants from 100mm to 1220mm in length and from 2.5mm to 12.6mm in width, with rated tensile strengths from 8kg to 115kg. Stainless steel cable ties for high-temperature, chemical-resistant and outdoor applications where nylon will degrade. Also releasable/reusable cable ties for temporary cable management in maintenance and commissioning applications.

Cable clips and fixings — single-cable clips, multi-cable clips, P-clips, saddle clips and mounting bases in nylon and metal for fixing individual cables and cable bundles to walls, panels, framing and structural steelwork. Used in electrical installation, data cabling, HVAC controls wiring, automotive harness installation and any application requiring cables to be routed and secured to a structure.

Cable conduit and trunking — corrugated flexible conduit in nylon and polyethylene for cable protection in machinery, vehicles and building services; rigid trunking systems for surface cable management in commercial and industrial buildings; split conduit for retrofitting protection around existing cable runs. Fittings, connectors and mounting accessories for complete conduit installations.

Heat shrink and cable identification — HellermannTyton heat shrink tubing in polyolefin and dual-wall adhesive-lined grades for cable jointing, termination protection, strain relief and insulation repair; cable markers, panel labels, tie-on tags and sleeve labels for cable identification in electrical panels, control cabinets and cable runs. The TAG series identification products are used in structured cabling and electrical panel labelling.

Industries

HellermannTyton products are used in electrical installation and panel building, telecoms and data centre infrastructure, automotive and commercial vehicle wiring, aerospace and defence electronics, industrial machinery manufacture, building services and HVAC controls, rail and transport, marine and offshore, and any manufacturing or installation environment where cables must be routed, secured, protected and identified.

Good to Know

Black UV-stabilised cable ties should be specified wherever ties will be exposed to sunlight. Natural nylon degrades and becomes brittle in UV within months of outdoor exposure, whereas UV-stabilised black ties last years in the same conditions. If you’re bundling cables on external equipment, rooftop services or in plant rooms with skylights, specify black, and we’ll happily confirm the right grade for your application.
