About Fischer

fischerwerke GmbH & Co. KG was founded in 1948 by Artur Fischer in Tumlingen, in the Black Forest region of Germany. Fischer was a remarkably prolific inventor who held over 1,100 patents during his lifetime, and his most influential creation was the plastic expansion wall plug, which he developed in 1958. The Fischer S-plug, a red nylon anchor that expands as a screw is driven into it, went on to become one of the most widely produced and used products in post-war construction across Europe and far beyond. In German, the everyday word for a wall plug, “Dübel”, is bound up with Fischer in much the same way that Hoover came to mean vacuum cleaner in English.

From that founding product, Fischer has built one of the most comprehensive fixing technology ranges in the world. It covers plastic and metal mechanical anchors, chemical resin anchor systems, frame fixings, facade fixings, heavy-duty concrete anchors, seismic-rated fixings and specialist engineered fastening solutions for structural and non-structural applications across the construction, infrastructure and industrial sectors.

Fischer’s technical support and anchor load calculation tools are an important part of what the brand offers in the UK market. Structural and facade fixing applications often call for demonstrated anchor performance, such as ETA (European Technical Assessment) approved fixings for safety-critical work, and Fischer provides the technical documentation, load data and calculation tools that specifiers and structural engineers rely on to design and approve anchor arrangements for building regulations purposes.

Products We Can Supply from Fischer

Plastic and nylon wall plugs. The Fischer S-plug (nylon), SX (universal) and UX (universal) series come in all standard metric sizes from 4 mm to 12 mm for use in concrete, solid masonry, perforated brick and hollow block substrates. The UX series uses a patent-protected geometry that performs reliably across a wider range of substrate types than standard S-plugs, which makes it the practical choice when the substrate varies across a job.

Mechanical anchors, torque-controlled and undercut. The FBN II bolt anchor, FAZ II through-bolt and FA anchor are made for heavy-duty fixing into concrete, and are used in structural steelwork fixing, equipment bolting, barrier and handrail installation and other jobs that need high pull-out and shear resistance with demonstrable performance data. ETA approval is available for safety-critical applications.

Chemical resin anchor systems. The FIS VS and FIS EM injectable resin anchor systems handle rebar dowelling, threaded rod installation and heavy-duty fixings in concrete and masonry. Chemical anchors offer higher load capacity in cracked concrete and edge-of-slab situations than mechanical anchors, and they are specified for structural rebar connection, facade support fixing and safety-critical attachment points. ETA assessed grades are available.

Frame fixings and cavity wall anchors. The fischer FUR and SXRL nylon frame fixings suit window, door and conservatory installation into masonry and concrete, while DUOBLADE and GK fixings cover hollow block and cavity wall applications where standard expansion anchors cannot develop adequate pull-out resistance. We also supply toggle, butterfly and spring toggles for plasterboard and hollow wall fixing.
