Choosing the right socket involves more than picking a size. Drive size (1/4\”, 3/8\”, 1/2\”, 3/4\”, 1\” and larger), profile (hexagon, bi-hexagon, square, octagon, Torx and others), wall thickness, overall length and material all need to suit the tool and the job. Impact sockets are forged from heavier-walled chrome-molybdenum steel and finished to absorb the repeated shock loads of impact wrenches, unlike polished chrome hand sockets, which are made for ratchets and hand tools and should never be used on impact tools. Matching the correct socket to the application is both a safety and a service-life decision.
Alongside its standard catalogue, Deltec manufactures bespoke sockets and specialised tooling to customer specification.
