Chicago Pneumatic was founded in 1894 in Chicago, Illinois, making it one of the oldest pneumatic tool manufacturers in the world. Pneumatic impact wrenches. The CP6748 and CP7748 series 1/2″ drive and 3/4″ drive impact wrenches are the most widely used tools in the Chicago Pneumatic range. The CP6748 in particular is a benchmark product in the automotive market for its torque delivery, compact size and durability. It comes in standard and lightweight composite housing variants, and there are also 1″ drive models for heavy truck, bus and industrial fastening applications.
Pneumatic angle grinders and straight grinders. The CP range covers 100 mm through 180 mm disc sizes in angle grinder format, with straight grinder and die grinder options for internal and detail grinding work. They are built for sustained production use in fabrication shops, maintenance workshops and vehicle body repair environments.
Pneumatic drills and tapping tools. Pistol grip and straight pneumatic drill motors for metal drilling applications, and reversible pneumatic drills for tapping operations. Chicago Pneumatic pneumatic drills are used in metal fabrication, general engineering and automotive manufacturing where consistent cycle performance and tool longevity are priorities.
Air hammers, chisels and needle scalers. Air hammers for chiselling, riveting and panel work, plus needle scalers and rotary scalers for rust and scale removal from steel surfaces prior to painting or coating. These are used extensively in shipbuilding, structural steelwork and industrial maintenance.

Good to Know
Pneumatic tool performance depends heavily on air supply quality and pressure. The CP6748 is rated for 6.2 bar operating pressure and needs a minimum air consumption of around 170 l/min free air. Run it from an undersized compressor and you will lose a good deal of torque output and tool life. If you’re sizing a compressor for a workshop, get in touch and we can advise on the right specification.
